We offer Abnormal Load transport services (pick-up and delivery) in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban, Port Elizabeth, and Cape Town

Lowbeds sized to the machine, not the other way round
Low Beds are a horse/trailer combination used to move earthmoving equipment between sites. Various sizes of low beds are available depending on the weight and/or the dimensions of the equipment to be moved. Today there are a variety of different models to choose from.

What makes a load abnormal
A load is abnormal once it passes the legal limits. For a goods vehicle of 12 tons or more, those limits are 4.3 metres high and 2.6 metres wide. On length, a rigid truck may not pass 12.5 metres, and a truck with a semi-trailer may not pass 18.5 metres, load included. On weight, the limit runs by axle group, up to 24 tons on a group of three axles, and the rating the maker gives the vehicle may never be exceeded.
Anything past those limits is an abnormal load, and it needs the right trailer, the right permits and a driver who has done it before. That is the work we do.
How an abnormal load move works with us
- Tell us the load. What it is, and the make and model if it is a machine. Roughly how heavy, in tons, and the rough length, width and height if you know them. A photo or spec sheet helps us quote accurately the first time.
- We match the trailer to the machine. Our lowbeds come in different sizes depending on the weight and the dimensions of the equipment, so the trailer is sized to the load and not the other way round.
- We arrange the permits. Provincial abnormal load permits and escort vehicles are needed for the move. We obtain the permits on your behalf and provide our own licensed escort vehicles.
- We come back to you the same working day with a price. Call the office on 086 999 0270 or email morne@benecketransport.co.za.
